PRACTICE UPDATE: Due to growing concern about social distancing, we are currently only seeing patients with dental emergencies at this time. We are currently working to reschedule patients with elective procedures at this time. Thank you for your understanding, and we’re sorry about any inconvenience this may cause. We are monitoring this situation closely to ensure our patients and their families stay safe!

A trip to the dentist can be stressful for some patients. We never want our patients to put off important appointments or feel uncomfortable in the Midtown Smiles office because of dental anxiety. That’s why we offer two sedation options to make your next trip to the dentist your most comfortable appointment yet.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous Oxide, commonly referred to as “laughing gas,” is a great option for patients who suffer from dental anxiety. The gas is administered through a cup you wear over your nose for the duration of your procedure. You will stay awake, but you will feel relaxed and groggy. When your procedure is finished, you will immediately recover from the effects and easily jump back to your daily routine.

IV Sedation

Dr. Michael Tabor earned special certification from the University of Alabama at Birmingham to administer IV sedation to his patients. He can control the level or your sedation to best suit your needs, whether you are anxious about your visit or prefer to get all of your work done at once. Please note, you will need a friend or family member to drive you home after your appointment with IV Sedation, and you will need plenty of rest for the remainder of the day.
